What points are#
Points track your progress and determine your level. Puzzle finishes, streaks, and claimed reading rewards can add to that total. Coins are a separate balance you can spend on board themes and streak freezes.
Points cannot be bought and do not expire. Your lifetime point total determines your level. Tiers also consider recent play and referrals, while badges have their own achievement requirements. Sign in with Google to keep your progress available across devices.
Ways to earn#
Every amount below is live — this table reads the same reward table the ledger pays from, so what you see is what lands. The fastest earner by far is today's puzzle: a clean solve stacks the finish, the win, the no-hints bonus, and the efficiency bonus in one go.
| Action | Points | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Finish a puzzle | +400 | First completion, won or lost |
| Solve it | +800 | On top of the finish |
| No hints | +400 | Solve without opening hints |
| Efficient solve | +400 | Solve in 4 guesses or fewer |
| Daily Double | +1,000 | Play the Classic replay and the NerdleBuddy daily on the same day |
| Daily quest | +300 | Three fresh quests every day — each pays once |
| Read a guide | +200 | Claim at the end of a guide (daily cap applies) |
| Come back today | +100 | Once per day, automatically |
| 7-day streak | +5,000 | A one-time milestone the day you reach it |
| 30-day streak | +20,000 | A one-time milestone the day you reach it |
| 100-day streak | +50,000 | A one-time milestone the day you reach it |
| 365-day streak | +200,000 | A one-time milestone the day you reach it |
| Read this page | +500 | Once ever — the claim is at the bottom |
Referrals pay too — and keep paying. Earn when your friends earn: every player you invite pays you a bonus worth a share of every point they earn in their first six months, without reducing their own rewards. Your code and share link live on your profile.
Events & multipliers#
Two kinds of boost multiply what you earn, and they stack with each other. The calendar boost is automatic: weekends pay ×2 and holidays pay ×3 on every point, rolling over with the puzzle at midnight UTC. When both could apply, the bigger one wins — they never stack with each other.
The second boost is yours to build: your player tier (1–10) adds a personal bonus to every earn, from +0% at Tier 1 up to +50% at Tier 10 — plus extra for active days, long streaks, referrals, and top-percentile play. Tap the points chip in the header to see your tier, your exact bonus, and what the next tier pays.
Buried treasure#
8 treasures are buried across the site, each a one-time find worth a serious pile of points. We won't say where — that's the point — but every treasure hides on a page worth reading anyway, and a hint surfaces if you stay a while. Your personal tracker on your profile counts your finds and drops clues for the rest.
Badges#
Badges mark the moments points can't: your first solve, a perfect week, a found treasure, a long streak. Each badge family climbs through tiers with its own artwork, and your profile gallery shows every earned badge — plus the locked ones still waiting. They're earned, never bought, and they survive sign-in on a new device like everything else.
Levels & the clock#
Levels derive straight from lifetime points — each one takes a little more than the last, and each carries a title on your profile. Nothing resets: a quiet week slows you down, it never sets you back.
The whole economy runs on the puzzle clock: days roll over at midnight UTC, everywhere. That's when the daily puzzle changes, daily rewards reset, and weekend or holiday boosts begin and end — the same moment for every player on Earth.
Playing without an account? Everything still counts on your device, and your first finished game quietly starts a record. Sign in with Google whenever you like and it all transfers — points, streaks, badges, treasure finds — exactly as promised in the privacy notice.
Frequently Asked Questions#
Do points expire?
No. Points are a lifetime total and never decay. Your player tier looks at your recent 30 and 90 days, so it can drift down in a quiet month — but the points themselves stay.
Can I buy points?
No, and you never will. Every point on the site is earned by playing, reading, or inviting friends — that's what makes the number mean something.
What are points for?
Today: levels and titles, player tiers with real earning bonuses, badges, and streak freezes that protect a missed day. The number is also your bragging line in every shared result.
Do I lose everything if I switch devices?
Not if you sign in with Google — your whole record follows you. Device-only play stays on that device until you sign in, and then it transfers.
You read the manual. That's worth points.
