What Flagle Is#
Flagle, at flagle.io, is a daily flag-identification game. The target country's flag is divided into six sections, all hidden at the start. Each incorrect guess reveals one section and reports how far your guess is from the answer in kilometers, along with an arrow showing the direction — guess Spain when the answer is Canada and the arrow points you west across the Atlantic. Name the country within six guesses and you win; miss them all and the flag is revealed until the next puzzle.
The game is credited to developer Ryan Barouki, whose original open-source version appeared in 2022 in the wake of Worldle's success. It is now published by Teuteuf Games, the studio behind Worldle, WhereTaken, and GeoGrid, and appears in that studio's official roster of daily games.
How to Play#
Type a country and submit; each miss uncovers more of the flag and tightens the geographic net. Early on, lean on the distance and direction feedback the way Worldle players do — a first guess near the center of the region you suspect splits the world efficiently. Once panels open, read the design itself: a glimpse of pan-African green, yellow, and red, a Nordic cross, or a crescent narrows the candidates fast. After the main round, Flagle offers bonus rounds about the answer country — identifying its shape, capital, and bordering countries, among others — so one daily session doubles as a short geography quiz. A new puzzle arrives just after midnight local time.
The Teuteuf Family and the Lookalikes#
Flagle sits inside Teuteuf Games' portfolio of daily geography puzzles, sharing the free-to-play model and daily cadence of siblings like Worldle and Travle. Its popularity has spawned a crowd of unaffiliated lookalike sites using near-identical names and rules on other domains; the version described here — the one Teuteuf publishes — lives at flagle.io. The pairing of pixel-by-pixel reveal with geographic distance clues is what separates it from plain flag quizzes: even a flag you cannot recognize can be reasoned out from where it is.
