Worldle

One country silhouette, six guesses. Every miss reports how far off you are and which direction to look — Wordle for the map-brained.

What Worldle Is#

Worldle shows the outline of a country or territory and gives you six tries to name it. Each wrong guess answers with the distance to the target, a direction arrow, and a proximity percentage — so even a bad guess is a compass.

French developer Antoine Teuf released it in January 2022, and by mid-February The Washington Post was reporting it near a million players in a day. He has said he'd rather it be seen as a tribute to Wordle than a copy — the name is the tell.

How to Play#

Guess a country on the same continent as your hunch even when you're unsure — the distance and bearing from a wrong answer narrows the field faster than agonizing over the silhouette. Island territories are the classic trap; their outlines all look like smudges.

Solving the silhouette starts a run of bonus rounds — neighbouring countries, the capital, the flag, spoken languages, population — that turn one puzzle into a small geography quiz. Mobile apps and a practice mode round it out.

The Studio It Built#

Worldle became the flagship of Teuteuf Games, now a whole studio of daily geography puzzles: Flagle for flags, Statele for US states, Emovi for films-in-emoji, WhenTaken for photographs, GeoGrid for grid trivia, and Travle for border-hopping routes.

Frequently Asked Questions#

Is Worldle related to Wordle?

Only in inspiration. It borrows the daily one-puzzle rhythm and six-guess structure, swaps words for country silhouettes, and its creator calls it a tribute rather than a clone.

What does the percentage in Worldle mean?

Proximity: 100% is the answer itself, and lower percentages mean your guess sits farther away. Pair it with the distance and direction hints to triangulate.
