What Squaredle Is#
Each day Squaredle publishes a letter grid — often four by four, sometimes larger — and a hidden checklist of words to find. You build words by chaining adjacent tiles in any direction, diagonals included, without reusing a tile within a word, and only words of four or more letters count. The required list sticks to reasonably common vocabulary; rarer words you stumble into are banked separately as bonus words rather than blocking your progress.
Squaredle was created by developer Michael Giuffrida and launched in 2022 during the boom of daily games that followed Wordle. It lives at squaredle.app, where it continues to post a new puzzle every day as of mid-2026.
How to Play#
Drag or type to submit words; a progress panel shows how many required words of each length remain. The game meters out help as you work: after you have found roughly forty percent of the required words, subtle hints begin to appear on the board, and you get one free reveal per puzzle — plus a second if you find the day's designated bonus word. Practical technique is about systematic sweeping: check every tile as a starting point, hunt common prefixes and suffixes, and try rearranging the letters of words you have already found.
Free to Finish, Paid Extras#
The daily puzzle is free to complete in the browser, and nothing required for a solve sits behind a paywall. An optional subscription tier, Squaredle Squared, adds convenience rather than access: subscribers get four additional reveals per puzzle and earlier hints. That split — a fully solvable free game with paid quality-of-life extras — is a big part of why its community treats finishing the whole required list, streak intact, as the daily ritual.
