Sedecordle

Sixteen five-letter words, twenty-one guesses, one keyboard. Sedecordle multiplies Wordle's daily ritual into a scrolling wall of boards that all react to every word you type.

What Sedecordle Is#

Sedecordle — from sedecim, Latin for sixteen — deals you sixteen hidden five-letter words at once. Every guess is applied to all sixteen boards simultaneously, and each board grades it against its own answer. You get twenty-one guesses in total: sixteen words plus five spare, which means nearly every guess you make has to solve a board outright.

The game surfaced in 2022 during the wave of escalating Wordle multipliers and is reportedly the work of Kenneth Crawford, the developer credited with the eight-board Octordle, though the site itself says little about its author. As of mid-2026, sedecordle.com still serves a fresh daily puzzle in the browser.

How to Play#

Feedback follows Wordle board by board: green for the right letter in the right spot, yellow for a letter in that board's word but misplaced, grey for a letter absent from that particular word. With only five guesses of slack, the approach is mechanical: spend your first three or four guesses on coverage words that test as much of the alphabet as possible, then scan for boards whose answers are forced and knock them out one per guess. There are two modes — a daily puzzle where everyone gets the same sixteen words, and a free mode with unlimited random sets for practice.

The -ordle Arms Race#

Sedecordle sits high on the escalation ladder that runs from Dordle (two words, seven guesses) through Quordle (four in nine), Octordle (eight in thirteen) and up to Duotrigordle (thirty-two in thirty-seven) — every step keeping the same words-plus-five budget. A sixty-four-board Sexaginta-quattuordle exists for anyone who finds sixteen too gentle. At this scale the pleasure shifts from wordplay to process: openers, deduction, and disciplined bookkeeping across a very long page.
